Incoming freshmen will be introduced to the fundamentals of Mandarin Chinese and begin to build essential language skills for success in their Chinese classes. Through daily lessons and interactive practice, students will learn basic vocabulary, pronunciation, and common conversational expressions, while also exploring core elements of Chinese characters and writing structure. Each day will include guided instruction, listening and speaking activities, and collaborative practice designed to build confidence and familiarity with the language. Students will also be introduced to elements of Chinese culture, helping them develop a deeper understanding of the perspectives and traditions they will encounter throughout the course.
